Natsume Yuujinchou (夏目友人帳) Episode 7
Title : The Little Fox's Hat (Jap: "Kogitsune no Bōshi" (子狐のぼうし) )
Air Time : August, 18 2008
Name Released : Sawarabi
Episode 7 after this one loooooong month (I feel like I have watched them after ages now)
On the evening however, the fox was again encounter the bad guys while Natsume once again come to the rescue. And what a coincidence, a voice echoed calling out Natsume. It was a youkai with the form of tree called Sawarabi pleading for his name back.
Natsume without hesitation gave back the name and that thing was enough to repel the bad guys and made them scared. The fox wanted Natsume to take his name because he wanted to be useful to Natsume (Well, seems tough for the fox. He always called useless before). Contradictory to his mission, of course Natsume wouldn't take its name.
And that's the last day, Natsume's back home. The fox though was eager to know about Natsume's condition. While thinking about it, he met a new youkai (strange one with strange physical appearance) who tricked the fox into gathering a lot of fish.
It's not a trick in the end. That youkai rewarded him with a medicine which enables the fox to assume human form for one day, and that way he can met Natsume. How? Because he can now use human transporation services!! Lol. He's not powerful enough to move across the region in my opinion.
All goes well and Natsume walk the fox back to the forest
No serious physical conflict this time which make this one is a little boring. But still good.

Title : Swallow at the Lake Bottom (Jap: "Kotei no Tsubame" (湖底のつばめ) )
Air Time : August, 11 2008
Name Released : Tarusaru and the rest of youkai who dwelled in Futaba Village
Episode 6, halfway to go~
Natsume and his two friends were cycling in the bright of the sun. They passed a dried dam which was a village before. The village's name was Futaba Village. Now that it's summer the water was mostly vaporized and the sunk village could be seen. Natsume saw a shadow that possessed him soon and fainting him.
That night, he got better though Madara sensed something different about him. A group of youkai from the village from earlier came for their name. The head of the group is Tarusaru who convinced Natsume to return their names before the village resubmerged.
Natsume did so and for that Tarusaru showed him a mirror from which Natsume could see that he was being possessed by an Ayakashi.
The ayakashi attempt a fight in which she was easily defeated by a right hand punch of Natsume, breaking its bird-shaped mask. I'm glad it's broken
I forgot to mention about how the punch was so effective. This punch continued until now. >.<
So, the Ayakashi explained the reason why she possessed Natsume and that she meant no harm to him. She only wanted to meet a person whom she liked and indebted to when she was little. After getting nagged for a while, Natsume agreed to look for this person, with only surname Taniozaki as a clue.
So he started asking his friends about the man of futaba village. Fortunately, Kitamoto knew a thing about this man since his father lived there in the past and promised to ask his father.
On his way home, the Ayakashi introduced herself as Tsubame.|
The text means a joke not Tsubame's monologue. Don't get the wrong idea
She explained how she became like this and how she met this kind men until midnight. She was once a swallow, living with her 4 other siblings. One day, she fell off her nest and a human helped him. The smell that lingered on her made her parents abandoned her and her siblings. One by one, her siblings died leaving her behind. Eventually she became a demon.
Taniozaki mistaken her as a stray dog or cat and continuosly feed her everyday without fail. That way, she could stay peacefully.
The next day, Kitamoto gave the address of the Taniozaki guy to Natsume who rushed into searching of this man. They met him but sadly he cannot she Tsubame. Natsume felt pity on her and wanted to help her although Tsubame said seeing the man is more than enough. And so Tsubame stayed a while longer with Natsume who grew attached to her.
It's sad to see her ignored
On an evening Tarusaru from before brought a sake to his home, and told him about the festival in Futaba Village. The thing about the yukata that enabled a youkai or ayakashi to assume human form for one day caught Natsume's interest.
And so Natsume decided to go to Futaba village without knowing the danger that awaited him. Madara who looked like he just passing by stopped them and argued a little. He couldn't stop Natsume from joining the festival, but at least he could ensure his safety.
Tarusaru' true form. Like the saying " a wise tiger hides its fangs".
Wearing a mask, he joined the race for the right to have the yukata which was hung on a tall withered tree. Of course as a human, Natsume couldn't compete with the Youkai.
However, Madara came to help him in the end after watching him for a while. It's kinda cheating and I wonder why the youkais agreed that Natsume won.
He immediately went back and gave the yukata right away to Tsubame, telling her to meet Taniozaki in the neighbourhood festival. Tsubame was grateful and bid a farewell.
The next day he met the Taniozaki and asked whether he met a girl during the festival. He did met Tsubame and shown Natsume a photo.
She was there and Natsume was happy that he cried. I guess her perseverence touched him.
That's it for episode 6. Tsubame was pretty cute, I should say.

Title : Heart-Colored Ticket (Jap: "Kokoro-iro no Kippu" (心色の切符))
Air Time : August, 4 2008
Yo, Episode 5~
Natsume felt that he began to understand his Grandma, little by little. On that day, he thought he might found valuable info regarding his Grandma through her heirloom.
What he found was an old borrowed book with a piece of ticket inside.
Maybe intrigued by the old ticket, he brought it all the way to school and stare it like forever until he was snapped out by the petty quarrel between Nishimura and Kitamoto.
Sasada who became curious of those things after the last episode started asking him question when she saw the ticket. He thought he might found out something if he went to the the place of the destination as written on the ticket. And so he went to the bus stop where he was caught by Sasada, who might have followed him. Tanuma (the guy from episode 3. Remember the priest's son?) helped Natsume escaped from her. (I don't know why he could be there, probably just passing by).
At the presribed place, he found a furry youkai called Santo. Seems kinda slow-minded and mistaken Takashi as Reiko at first. Natsume had a hard time convincing him that he was not Reiko.
And so, Natsume gave his name back and the memory of it flew into Natsume.
In the past, Reiko made a promise with Santo that she would help him made up with Mikuri, Santo's friend. At this point, we don't know what it was. She said she would help on the next day but apparently she didn't come (for a reason or simply no reason) and Santo was made waiting all this time. (poor thing...)
Natsume decided to continue what her Grandma had started and so they started searching for Mikuri right away although the sun was setting. On the way to a lake, where Mikuri was supposed to live, Natsume and others were attacked by the rampage of frenzy plants (looked like whip). Presumably, that were Mikuri's grudge.
They arrived at the lake, and what awaited were a freaking huge catfish which had grown in size because of its lingering hatred.
Apparently, Mikuru was also targeting the Book of Friends. Since the opponent was in water, it was one tough opponent even for Madara. Well, in the end, the protagonist prevailed. Madara out-leveled Mikuri and it changed back to its original form.
Mikuri seemed like he had no idea what happened after he changed into a huge catfish. He hated Santo ever since he gave his name to Reiko. Seems trivial to me to cause a lot of trouble like this. Well, the the two best friends made up again. So do the guys in the school.
At that night, Natsume continued to browse through his Grandma's heirloom and what he found was a bunch of ticket which meant another promised she had left. Oh god..
That's it for episode 5. Ah~~ the joy of friendship
